#1 - Bromeliad

​​The most bromeliad species is the fruit, pineapple. Over 2,000 bromeliad species are found all over the Amazon rainforest and have a wide range of colours. There are blue, purple, red and orange bromeliad species. Bromeliads are found grown and growing on rocks, in the soil and some also grow other plants and tree trunks. Their leaves overlap each other so then they can store in rainwater.



#2 - Heliconia

Heliconia flowers are known by many names, such as: wild plantain, lobster-claw, and false-bird-of-paradise flowers. These flowers can come in many different sizes and colours. Only a few birds can get nectar from Heliconia flowers as they have a unique shape. Heliconia flowers are a very popular and decorative flower all over the world as they are very colourful and come in many different sizes. 



#3 - Kapok Tree

Kapok trees are a very important part of the Amazon rainforest. It is home to many animals plants and is also of good need for native people. You could see a kapok tree produce 400 to 5000 fruits at once! Native people use kapok trees' bark, resin, seeds and leaves. These trees are known to be able to heal fevers, asthma, kidney disease, and dysentery. It can grow up to 60.96 metres and be from 22.86 to 27.94cm in diameter.



#4 - Orchids

Orchids are well-known for their beautiful appearance and strong, pleasant smell. There are tons and tons of orchids you could find in the Amazon rainforest. These unique flowers are also known to survive for a long amount of time without any source of water. Orchids produce from hundreds to thousands of seeds, being carried about in the Amazon rainforest to breed.

#5 - Water Lily

The water lily is the most largest flower in the world as it can grow up to 2.088 metres. But even though it is the largest, it doesn't weigh much at all as they float on top of lakes. Many water lilies grow together that nearly all of them together cover the entire lake.



#6 - White Trillium

White trilliums have three petals, three sepals and three leaves (which is the reason why they call it 'trillium'). It is known that if you get bitten by a snake, chewing on white trilliums will cure you. Also, if pregnant woman chew on these flowers, it will make them feel more comfortable with their baby. You can also cure a fever by chewing on the sepals.



#7 - Coca

Coca plants are plants that are used a lot around South America. Chewing on its leaves helps treat a headache and stop from being tired. It will also relieve sickness, fatigue, hunger, and aches. Inside its leaves, there is also cocaine. Coca plants are used for medical treatments, but is most popular reason why it is used is to produce cocaine. Coca plants are different from Cocoa (Cacao) plants (just to say if you are a bit confused).



#8 - Cacao (Cocoa) Beans

Cacao beans are the seeds of the Theobroma cacao - an Amazonian fruit tree (also meaning "The Food of the Gods") - and are apart of the ingredients of chocolate and cocoa products. The Mexican Mayan kings drank up to 30 cups of pure chocolate drinks everyday to not feel tired during the day. And these kings valued it so much that they actually used it as money (FUN FACT)! 



#9 - Castor Beans 

Castor beans are used to help treat digestive diseases. Although, it has now been used less as it is highly poisonous. But castor oil is not poisonous and is used for grease, a lotion for dry skin, inflammation of the skin, sunburn, open and painful places of the body, and other things.



#10 - Trumpet Tree

Trumpet tress come from the genus Tabebuia. In this genus contains around 100 types of different species of trees. The trumpet tree produces flowers in large amounts. Trumpet trees' flowers are very eye-catching as the flowers they produce are in the shapes  of trumpets (which is why they call it the trumpet tree). The indigenous people of Brazil use their roots to help cure wounds. They also boil the leaves until they are moist and soft to treat inflammation. When tea is made out of the leaves, it is used to treat minor breathing illnesses. 



#11 - Strangler Fig

Strangler fig is a very common name and when is used describes many species related to an Indian fig tree and mixed-up veins. Strangler figs are called 'strangler figs' because of how they grow. These trees can be found in dark forests. Also, strangler figs' cores and found to be hollow.
